THE Air Secretary, Nigeria Air Force (NAF), AVM Muhammad Abdul-Wahab, says the service remains apolitical in the discharge of its constitutional duties. Abdul-Wahab announced this at the graduation ceremony of 140 Senior None Commission Officer (SNCOs) on leadership and Management course 2017, at the Military Training Centre NAF base in Kaduna.
The air secretary reminded the personnel that the NAF and the Nigerian Armed Forces remained apolitical in discharge of its constitutional duties. “Therefore you must remain vigilant and discipline at all times, knowing that discipline is the bedrock of any fighting force,” Abdul-Wahab.
He pointed out that without discipline there can be no cohesion and team spirit, adding that the military mind focuses on tackling problems through the application of practiced routine, fortified by traditions and intellect. “For this reason, maintaining a system through which these methods, ideals, traditions and intellect are taught, maintained and passed down from one generation to another is imperative,” he said.
Abdul-Wahab said through regimentation the military imposes order and discipline in the service in ways that allow for routine working practice to be strictly controlled. “Indeed SNCOs is without contradiction a potent tool for regimentation in every Unit he said.
The air secretary said that SNCOs would always be an important part of the NAF and integral to the successes of its mission and daily operation. Also, the Commandant, Military Training Centre, Air Commodore Noah Oyibo, said the 140 SNCOs were exposed to series of leadership and Management models, Service writing, office administration and effective communication skills. Oyibo charged the personnel to put all they had learnt to maximum use. (NAN)
