THE National Agency for Food, Drug Administration and Control (NAFDAC) has called for greater cooperation and partnership with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) to enhance its education and enforcement against unwholesome products.
NAFDAC’s Director in-charge of South-East, Mrs Olajumoke Ojetokun, made the call during a courtesy visit to the Enugu Zonal Manager of NAN, Mr Felix Nwadioha, in Enugu on Tuesday.
Ojetokun said that NAN was one of its critical stakeholders, who over time had helped to project the regulatory agency’s work and mandate to the people.
She noted that the agency needed NAN services in covering its activities within the zone, which covers the five South-East states of Abia, Anambra, Ebonyi, Enugu and Imo.
“You have been helping us before now and had been part of the NAFDAC success story; however, we are here to seek greater cooperation and for us to have a robust and extensive relationship.
“The agency has been invigorated by its new Director-General, Prof. Mojisola Adeyeye, for the agency’s staff to do extensive coverage of its mandate, educate members of the public and render support to business development,’’ she said.
Responding, Nwadioha said that NAN remained the flagship of news dissemination in the country, adding that almost all media houses in the country subscribe to the agency.
He noted that today, NAN had gone multi-media; thus, serving its subscribers with audio and video versions of news daily.
“You have come to the right place to seek help and NAN is well positioned in terms of personnel and materials to help you deliver on your mandate and any other assistance we can render to NAFDAC.
“As NAN slogan goes, Talk to NAN, Talk to All; we are assuring you of a robust and well articulated coverage at all times.
“Our reporters and correspondents always upholds the NAN rule of timely filing and editing of news reports and other news materials, which always place us ahead of others in the news business,’’ he assured. (NAN)
