THE Director-General, Nasarawa State Geographical Information Services (NAGIS), Mr Sonny Agassi, said the agency generated  N536 million as revenue between January and April 2024.

Agassi made this known when he led other management staff of the agency to appear before the State House of Assembly Committee on Lands and Survey on Friday in Lafia.

He appreciated the committee and Gov.  Abdullahi Sule for their support to the agency.

According to him, the agency is doing its best to generate money to the coffee of the state government

“We have generated the sum of N536 million as revenue between the months of January and April this year.

“We will double our performance before the end of 2024 and we are hopeful to exceed our budget’s target” he said.

Agassi called on those yet to register and collect their Certificate of Occupancy (C of O), to visit the agency as it was ready to provide the needed services.

The director-general said within the five-year administration of Sule, he signed over 10,000 C of O, which assisted the agency to record higher in terms of revenue generation and collection.

He said, There was a time I presented 150 C of O to the governor to sign, and within two days, he signed them all, which shows his commitment to revenue generation.”

Responding, Mr Emmanuel Manding, the Chairman of the committee, commended the management of NAGIS for generating N536 million in four months.

He expressed satisfaction with the commitment of Sule in land administration.

According to Manding, if the agency can achieve this within four months, it is hopeful that before the year rounds off, it can achieve more than the projected amount captured in the 2024 budget.

The committee chairman said that the exercise was to assess the budget performance of the agency for the first quarter and “how to synergize for better Nasarawa State”.

The lawmaker promised to give the agency all the needed support and cooperation to succeed.

“You are doing well in the area of revenue generation among others and we will continue to support you to succeed

“It is when the state government has the funds that it will execute more projects that will have positive impacts on the lives of the people of the state,” he said.

Similarly, the Ministry of Lands and Urban Development also appeared before the committee on its 2024 budget performance.

Manding, the chairman of the committee, commended the ministry for prudency in the management of its resources.

He commended the governor for prioritising land and urban development in the state.

According to the chairman, the ministry should still do more for the benefit of the people and for the overall development of the state.

Earlier, Alhaji Ibrahim Bala, the Commissioner for Land and Urban Development, appreciated the committee for supporting its activities to succeed.

He also commended Sule for his efforts in ensuring land development in the state and solicited for more support to  overcome their challenges. (NAN)
