THE Supreme Court of Nigeria on Wednesday has adjourned hearing in a suit challenging the February 10 deadline to end the use of old N200, N500 and N1000.

The case which was filed by the governors of Kaduna, Kogi and Zamfara states was adjourned to February 22 by a seven-member panel of the court led by Justice John Okoro.

According to a report from Vanguard, the apex court said it would consolidate all the cases, stressing that all the states would abide by its decision on the matter.

The Central Bank of Nigeria, CBN, had earlier announced that the old notes will cease to be legal tender from January 31, but at the expiration of the date, the apex bank further extended the deadline to February 10 in response to pressure from Nigerians.

However, on Wednesday, February 8, the Supreme Court issued an interim injunction restraining the CBN and the Federal Government from carrying on with the policy.
