CIVIL Liberties Organization, CLO, Anambra State branch has commended and extolled patriotic, peaceful, civil and matured dispositions of citizens and residents in the current socioeconomic hardships, sufferings and predicament necessitated by new naira redesign policy of CBN and federal government and scarcity of fuel.

Most pathetic and despicable is that citizens find it very difficult, if not impossible to access both old and new naira notes from banks. This has resulted in the death of some sick persons due to inability to pay deposits.

We thanks them for their perseverance, resilient, tolerance and patience as most of them waits for more than eight hours in banks without success.

We appeal to them to sustain and maintain their peaceful deposition as violence is the worst form of irresponsibility and lawlessness. There is no doubt in our minds that the problem will soon fizzle out.

We acknowledge the efforts of government and CBN to mitigate and ameliorate the sufferings of Nigerians but more concerted and collaborative efforts should be geared towards monitoring the disbursement of new naira notes by Bank Managers especially in the southeast as information at our disposal indicates that their dishonest disbursement of the new notes contributed immensely to the artificial scarcity of money that has exacerbated the sufferings and predicament of the citizens.

They should update CBN on daily basis names and account numbers of those that withdraws money, this will curtails the money getting into the hands of few influential people to the detriment of the citizens.

The press statement issued to newsmen endorsed by Evangelist Comrade Vincent Ezekwueme chairman and Comrade Chidi Mbah Secretary appeal to Federal Government and NNPC to tackle high cost of petroleum products in the country despite there is no official increments.

We equally appeal to Anambrarians and Nigerians to come out in large numbers and vote for best candidates of their choice with their conscience and conviction based on competent, character, capacity and capability during February 25th and March 11th general elections CLO posited.
