GOV. Umar Namadi of Jigawa has approved the appointment of Dr Adamu Abubakar, the Emir of Hadejia, as the state Amirul Hajj for the 2024 pilgrimage in Saudi Arabia.

Malam Bala Ibrahim, the Secretary to the State Government (SSG), announced this in a statement issued in Dutse on Saturday.

The SSG listed Alhaji Turaki Ibrahim, Alhaji Nasidi Ali, Alhaji Habibu Ubah and Dr. Abubukar Sani-Birninkudu, the Chief Imam of Dutse Central Mosque, as members of the Amirul Hajj team.

He explained that the appointments were based on merit, taking into their individual track records of hard work, commitment, patriotism, trustworthiness and fear of Allah.

Ibrahim said that the government expexted them to justify the confidence reposed in them by bringing their knowledge and wealth of experience to bear during the Hajj operation.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that no fewer than 1,289 pilgrims from the state are expected to perform the pilgrimage. (NAN)
