Nasarawa Assembly inspect roads, other devt projects

THE Nasarawa State House of Assembly Committee on Works and Transport says it is undertaking inspection visits to all ongoing road construction and other development projects across the state to ensure quality and timely delivery.

The committee said theoversightwas to ascertain the level of work and ensure that the right things are done for the overall development of the state.

Mr Suleiman Azara, the Chairman of the committee, stated this when the Management of Ministry of Works and Transport appeared before the committee on its 2023 budget performance on Tuesday in Lafia.

Azara urged the management of the ministry to continue to be up and doing in supervising roads and other projects across the state.

“What we are doing is our constitutional responsibilities as enshrined in the constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.

“It is not a witch-hunt exercise as we are here to assess your 2023 budget performance.

“You should tell us the level of your budget performance from January to date,” he said.

The  committee chairman assured of the committee readiness to collaborate with the ministry to ensure the development of the state.

Azara commended the state government for the provision of infrastructure and other facilities across the state.

Alhaji Muazu Gosho, the Commissioner for Works, appreciated the House for maintaining effective partnership with the state government for successful execution of projects in the state.

The commissioner pledged his readiness to take the ministry to the greater height.

He said that the state government under the leadership of Gov. Abdullahi Sule is being up and doing in developing the state via infrastructural development.

On his part, Mr Suleiman Umar, the General Manager, Nasarawa Electricity Power Agency (NAePA), while presenting the agency’s 2023 budget performance assured of the state government determination to supply electricity to communities across the state.

He also commended the House for supporting the activities of the agency to succeed. (NAN)
