Nasarawa Speaker tasks parents on proper upbringing of children

THE Speaker, Nasarawa State House of Assembly, Alhaji Ibrahim Abdullahi, has advised parents to ensure proper upbringing of their children in a Godly way.
This, he said, through western and religious knowledge to enable them be responsible people in the society.
The speaker made the call in Lafia during the naming ceremony of his new born baby girl, Zainab, named after his elder sister.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that his third and younger wife, Mrs Rukaiyat Abdullahi, gave birth to a baby girl on Oct. 4.
The number three citizen of the state, who was visibly happy, said children are special gifts from God, hence the need of his call in that direction.
“I have married last year and God in his infinite mercy has blessed me this year with a new born baby girl.
“I sincere thank God for his blessings as children are special gift from God.
” I want to appreciate everybody who contributed in one way or other to ensure the success of this naming ceremony.
“I also want to appreciate all those who came from far and near to attend this naming ceremony and I pray God to grant them safe journey to their various destinations.
“I want to use this medium to call on parents to ensure proper upbringing of their children in a Godly way to make them responsible citizens and for the overall peace and progress of the family and the society,” he said.
The speaker prayed for God’s protection, blessings and good health for the new born and other children.
Abdullahi used the medium to call on the people of the state and Nigerians to continue to be law abiding, respect constituted authorities, live in peace and tolerate one another irrespective of their affiliations.
He also urged residents of the state to support government policies and programmes to succeed.
NAN also reports that dignitaries that attended the naming ceremony included the state Deputy Speaker, Mr Nehemiah Dandaura; lawmakers; the SSG, Muhammed Ubandoma; local government chairmen; politicians; friends and well wishers. (NAN)
