THE Chief Missioners of Nasrul-Lahil-l-Fath Society (NASFAT), Alhaji Onike Abdul-Azeez, has urged the electorate in Nigeria to shun any form of financial inducement by politicians.

Abdul-Azeez gave the advice on Wednesday in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Lagos.

He said:“If you sell your vote for a pot of porridge, for the next four years, you are going to suffer it.

“Politicians will recoup whatever they have given to you during the election process before thinking of your own welfare.

“It means you have created harm not only for yourself, but also for your children and other Nigerians.“

The Islamic cleric also urged the electorate to vote according to their conscience in the forthcoming general elections.

“What we need is God’s consciousness; whatever action that we are going to take, before, during, or after the election will have effect on our economy and the generality of Nigerians.

“If you are involved in election violence and thuggery and the election is truncated, whatever happens to millions of Nigerians, thereafter, you will share in the blame.

“You should get your Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs) and on the day of elections, cast your vote. It is the almighty Allah who gives and takes power.

“Our duty is to participate in the election and leave the rest to Him to choose whoever will lead us.

“We should not disenfranchise ourselves by losing interest in the electioneering process.

“Nigerians must know that whatever role they play will nobly effect the lives of their children and the generations unborn, “he said. (NAN)
