THE Nigerian Association of Small and Medium Enterprises, NASME, on Monday, February 1, elected Michaels Ashibogwu, managing director, The Republic Media, as its publicity secretary. Ashibogwu was among the 19 members of the governing council of the NASME elected after its seventh Annual General Meeting held in Lagos on January 28, 2016.
The AGM which drew members from all chapters across the country was well attended by corporate and institutional members. The NASME is a business membership organisation founded in 1996 and currently has 26 active state chapters with over 25,000 companies and institutions as members.
The following members were elected into the governing council of the NASME to run its affairs for two years. Degun Agboade, president and chairman of the council; Tokunbo Talabi, deputy president, finance and administration and Abdul Rasheed Yerima, deputy president, north.
Others are M.O. Nlemigbo, deputy president, south; Bala Othman Suleiman, zonal vice president, North-East; Ibrahim Dasuki Haske, zonal vice president, North West; Vincent Dumoni, zonal vice president, North Central; Chiedu Anyaso, zonal vice president, South East; Oladipo Jemi Alade, zonal vice president, South West and Oko-Jaja, zonal vice president, South South, Union Bank, treasurer;
The rest are Obiora Madu, private sector representative; Oladipo Bankole, private sector representative; Tayo Omidiji, NEXIM Bank, representing financial institutions; Felix Oyakhamoh, ECOBANK, representing financial institutions; A. Sowunmi CBN, representing financial institutions; Tokunbo Habeeb, RMRDC, representing public sector institutions and DM Ibrahim, NOTAO, representing public sector institutions.
In his acceptance speech, Agboade, newly elected president thanked outgoing members of the council for their selfless service in the past four years. He also outlined a seven-point agenda to move the NASME forward. The association being the largest business membership organisation, BMO, representing various sectors of the MSMEs noted for driving the country’s economy is repositioning to serve better the interests of the MSMEs in Nigeria.
