THE National Space Research and Development Agency (NASRDA) says it will collaborate with Proforce Ltd. to build four satellites that will positively impact on Nigeria.

The Director-General of NASRDA, Dr Matthew Adepoju, made this known when the Group Managing Director (GMD) of Proforce Ltd., Mr Ade Ogundeyin, paid him a courtesy visit on Thursday in Abuja.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that Proforce Ltd. is an indigenous defence manufacturing company.

Adepoju said the four satellites included NigeriaSAT 3, 4, 5 with sub-meter resolution, and a Synthetic Aperture Radar (SAR) satellite.

According to the NASRDA D-G, the satellites will positively impact the nation’s economy, national security, agriculture and boost technological development among others.

“The satellites will enable precision agriculture, monitoring and data collection leading to increased food production and security.

“The satellites will also play a vital role in defence, maritime, as well as in the oil and gas sector.

“More so, it will bring about effective capacity building, technology transfer, job creation in the aerospace industry and boost Nigeria’s economy in alignment with President Bola Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda.

“The success of this project will place Nigeria at the centre of the global aerospace industry, showcasing the country’s capabilities and expertise,’’ Adepoju said.

He said that the agency would be committed to providing professional support for the success of the project.

Adepoju wooed other private investors to venture into the space ecosystem, saying that the private sector was taking the lead in developing space economy globally.

Meanwhile, Ogundeyin, the Proforce GMD and an Engineer, in his response said the partnership would benefit the nation and its citizens, while also encouraging technology transfer.

“This strategic partnership will enhance satellite technology development.

“Also, it will be highly rewarding, not only to parties involved but to the entire nation.

“The outstanding results will be among the great achievements of President Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda,’’ Ogundeyin said. (NAN)
