NCC lists Rights of Consumers

AS part of the Nigerian Communication Commission’s, NCC, practice of engaging telecom consumers through information and education, the commission has to sensitise consumers of their rights. The commission on series of tweets stated that the right of every consumer is protected by the Nigerian Constitution.

It stated that the commission had setup a series of initiatives towards empowering consumers with appropriate information for protecting their rights and choices. Such initiatives include setting up a 622 Toll Free Call Centre for consumers to call and make their complaints if they have been undeserved.

“The NCC will also like to inform consumers to take advantage of the”2442″Do-Not-Disturb, DND, short code to stop unsolicited text messages. Consumers are advised to reports individuals that engage in the sale of pre-registered SIM cards to the NCC and law enforcement agencies. Consumers are advised to always request for their complaint number when lodging a complaint with their service provider,” the tweets stated.

The NCC also listed other consumer rights to include: right to be informed, right to be protected, right to seek redress, right to be assured and right to be heard.
