THE forthcoming annual International Telecommunications Union, ITU, conference holding from September 25 to 28, Busan, South Korea, presents Nigeria an opportunity to host an investment forum to deepen the growing broadband market in the country.
Already, Nigeria has about 150 million subscribers to different networks and the number of people using data on the networks are growing on a daily basis.
The country’s National Broadband Plan, NBP, from 2013 – 2018 aims to grow broad band penetration which stands at 21 percent now to 30 percent by next year.
Abdulraheem Adebayo Shittu, minister of communications, is expected to lead Nigerian delegates including Prof. Umar Danbatta, the executive vice chairman of the Nigerian Communications Commission, NCC, to the event which will also host high level delegation from different member countries of the ITU and other global leaders in the telecommunications industry.
