ND western, NLNG, Shell, others win awards at NIES 2023 Gala Night

THE NIES 2024 Industry Awards Gala night was another high point of the day two of the week-long Summit which bagan in Abuja on Monday,  Feb 26, 2024.

After the day’s deliberations,  the participants were hosted at the State House Banquet Hall to a gala dinner sponsored by the Nigerian Content Development and Monitoring Board, NCDMB.

It was also a night to celebrate industry players, who have shown tremendous excellence over the years.

Top on the list of winners was  Layi Fatona, Executive Vice Chairman ND Western, who was presented with the NIES Lifetime Achievement Award 2023.

Other awardees include Eloho Aiboni, managing director, SNEPO and Mele Kolo Kyari, who both won the Energy Personality of the year 2023.

First in the industry recognition award for the year 2023 category was Exonmobil, the Nigeria, Independent Petroleum Producers Group, IPPG, and Omar Farouk Ibrahim, Secretary General Africa Petroleum Producers Organisation, APPO.

The Industry Recognition for Petroleum Achievement Award went to Festus Agbani Fayemi, while Techno Oil won the 

Industry Recognition Award 2023 for the downstream sector.

Sustainable Energy Business Award 2022 went to Chevron Nigeria Ltd, while the Nigerian Content Development and Monitoring Board, NCDMB, got the award of Excellence for the Nigerian Content Award 2023.

Catherine Uju Ifejirika, Chairperson/CEO of Brittania-U Nigeria Limited, BUNL, won the Women in Energy Award 2023.

Best exhibitor award at NIES 2023 went to NLNG Ltd and Shell Petroleum Development Company, while NNPC retail Ltd won the best downstream company of the year 2023.

Welcoming the guests, Ella Agbo Nicholas, Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Petroleum Resources, thanked all the participants and urged them to join hands in building a sustainable energy space, adding that Nigeria is very much interested in all forms of investments in the sector.

 Felix Ogbe, Executive Secretary, NCDMB, who was represented by Ama Ikuru, Director, Cooperate Commission, NCDMB,  urged all the guests to ensure that they enjoyed the evening.

It was also an opportunity to showcase the rich Nigerian cultural heritage as ace musician, Innocent Idibia, popularly known as 2Baba, thrilled the audience with some of his award winning songs.
