THE Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC) says it has completed the 25.7km Ogbia-Nembe Road project in Bayelsa.

The Executive Director, Projects, Victor Antai, said this in a statement by the Director, Corporate Affairs, Pius Ughakpoteni in Port Harcourt on Friday

According to the statement, Antai spoke during an inspection tour of the project.

He said that the project was implemented in collaboration with Shell Petroleum Development Company with SETRACO as the contractor.

The director said that the 25.7km road project crisscrossed 14 communities with seven bridges and 53 culvets.

”The project is a flagship intervention and a model of development partnership between NDDC and International Oil Companies in the region.

”It is a good example of what can be achieved through collaboration between development agencies, companies, and state governments,” he said.

Antai said that the commission had initiated steps to complete and inaugurate other legacy projects in the Niger Delta.

”So this road showcases the importance we attach to quality work; we shall maintain this standard for all our future projects,” he said.

Also speaking, Mr Onuoha Obeka, the NDDC Director, Environmental Protection and Control, said that the road, traversed through swampy terrain.

”The road was impassible before the commission’s intervention. It’s completion is a huge success story,” he said. (NAN)
