NDDC MD Wages War against Cholera in Rivers
BREAKING NEWS, Health
–
IBIM Semenitari, acting managing director, Niger Delta Development Commission, NDDC, is racing against time to stop further fatality in the outbreak of cholera in Rivers State. On Tuesday, April 26, Semenitari donated more drugs to Soku community in Degema local government area of Rivers State to stem the outbreak of cholera in the community.
Semenitari had last Tuesday, in response to a distress call from the community, despatched a team of doctors from the commission and medicine to the area. The cholera outbreak had claimed about seven lives before the NDDC intervention.
The donation of medicine was to sustain the level of success made by the NDDC medical team which is still in the area.
Peter Otiosa, a community leader, received the donation on behalf of Soku community. He praised Semenitari for her speedy response to the SOS call. “We have always known that you’re someone with tender heart who cares for others”, Otiosa said in his remark.
Soku is a coastal oil-producing community in Rivers State ravaged by insecurity.
