THE National Directorate of Employment (NDE) says it disbursed N2.7 million grant to 270 small scale traders in Jigawa at N10,000 each to expand their businesses.

NDE Coordinator in the state, Mr. Abubakar Jamo, disclosed this to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Dutse on Tuesday.

Jamo said 10 beneficiaries were selected from each of the 27 Local Government Areas of the state.

He explained that the grant was disbursed under the agency’s Micro-Enterprise Enhancement Scheme (MEES).

The coordinator said that the gesture was to enable the traders expand their petty businesses and to encourage sustainable social and economic development in the state.

Jamo urged the beneficiaries to ensure judicious use of the fund by engaging in productive activities.

NAN recalls that the directorate had also, in Feb. 2020, disbursed N7.7 million as grant to 770 petty women traders in the state. (NAN)
