IN a remarkable act of kindness and humanitarian service, Amb. Chika Rita Ezenwa, the Founder and Executive Director of Nery Developmental Initiative, marked this year’s Valentine’s Day by donating blood at the National Blood Service Commission.

Rather than indulge in traditional celebrations, the ex-beauty queen chose to extend love in its purest form—saving lives. Her gesture underscores the importance of voluntary blood donation, especially in a country where blood shortages often threaten medical emergencies.

Speaking on her decision, Ezenwa emphasized that Valentine’s Day should be about compassion and selflessness. “Love is about giving, and there’s no greater gift than the gift of life. I encourage everyone to donate blood and help those in need,” she said.

“As a humanitarian and advocate for social change, her action aligns with the core mission of Nery Developmental Initiative, which focuses on community welfare and public health.

“My blood donation serves as an inspiration for others to embrace meaningful ways of showing love beyond material gifts,” She remarked
