NEMA D-G bags outstanding performance award

MR Mustapha Ahmed, the Director-General, National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) has been honoured with an outstanding performance award by the joint unions of the agency.

Mr Ali Abdulkareem, the Chairman, Association of Senior Civil Servants of Nigeria (ASCSN) presented the award on behalf of the unions at a ceremony in Abuja on Wednesday.

He said that Ahmed was given the award in recognition and appreciation of his numerous achievements in the agency.

“This award is to appreciate him for positively turning the agency around and for making the agency more efficient in disaster response.

“We also recognize his contributions in terms of improved staff welfare, which has motivated the staff to become more committed to their duties and actualising the mandates of the agency,” he said.

Earlier, Mr Musa Zakari, the Director, Human Resources, NEMA, said that the award was well deserved as the director-general had reinvigorated the agency by improving its disaster response capacity.

Responding, Ahmed, appreciated the unions for the award, while dedicating it to the entire staff of the agency.

“Whatever recognition I receive is because of the collective support and cooperation of the staff.

“I want to also call on all the staff to put in more effort to meet the expectations of Nigerians,” he said.
