A new draft policy for the reform of the National Parks in Nigeria has been approved by the National Council on Privatisation

THE National Council on Privatisation, NCP, headed by Vice President Namdi Sambo has approved the new draft policy for the reform of the National Parks in the country. Consequently, the council has directed the minister of environment to immediately present all the necessary legal and regulatory documents for the enactment of a National Parks Bill in the country to the federal executive council, FEC, for approval.

The documents are the draft policy on Nigeria National Parks, draft National Park Service Bill and draft implementation framework for National Park Service Sector.

At its meeting on April 16, 2015, which held in the Presidential Villa, the council noted that after the approval by FEC, the Bill would be transmitted to the National Assembly for enactment.

The PAT is a technical team drawn from BPE, MDAs and other stakeholders to provide inputs to the NCP Steering Committee in proposing the Policy, Legal and Regulatory Framework for the reform of the tourism sector and partial commercialization of the National Parks, a statement signed by Alex Okoh, head, Public Communications, Bureau of Public Enterprises made available to Realnews May 5, said.
