THE new Commandant of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) in Katsina State, Mr Jamilu Abdu-Indabawa has tasked personnel in the command to ensure hitch-free elections in the state.

The Commandant also tasked them to ensure full protection of critical national assets and contribute  effectively in tackling the current security challenges of the state.

Abdu-Indabawa gave the charge on Tuesday in Katsina when he took over the affairs of the command from his predecessor, Mr Muhammad Sanusi-Bello, who was deployed to Adamawa.

He said that with the elections around the corner all the NSCDC personnel must work assiduously to ensure the successful conduct of the polls.

He appealed for their maximum support to ensure that the command carried out its mandate effectively and efficiently, including addressing the security situation in the state and peaceful general elections.

He reaffirmed that the Command would not rest on its oars in ensuring peace and order before, during and after the elections.

Abdu-Indabawa assured people of the state that the NSCDC was committed to the fight against all forms of crimes and criminalities and solicited their goodwill and cooperation.

Earlier, Sanusi-Bello enjoined all the personnel to accord the new commandant full cooperation to steer the affairs of the command effectively. (NAN)
