The new helmsman said he would improve the regulation of training and practice of optometry and dispensing opticianry in the country.

“The profession’s training curriculum and scheme of service will conform  with international best practices with quackery and other unwholesome practices, checked.

“We will accommodate professional optometrists and dispensing opticians to work together and define our different unique roles and boundaries” he said.

The new registrar promised the staff of ODORBN that he would make their welfare a top priority.

“I will also ensure that students in our training institutions who have been at home since graduating are inducted soonest into the profession,” he said.

He commended his predecessor, Prof. Ebele Uzodike, for efforts while in office and pledged to sustain her legacies. (NAN)
