New security measures for South East, South South

AFTER its meeting with security chiefs in Abuja, on Tuesday, May 11, President Muhammadu Buhari has approved new security measures for the Southeast and South-South regions of the country.

The measures, which was announced by Usman Alkali Baba, acting inspector-general of police, was one of the outcomes of the series of security meetings held in the last eleven days and concluded on Tuesday in the Presidential Villa, Abuja.

However, Baba did not give details of the new security measures.

Also, approved by the president is the memo on the control of drugs, presented by Major General Babagana Monguno (rtd), national security adviser, NSA, which he said, are enablers of insecurity,

The inspector general also did not give details about the memo.

He said the meeting stressed the need to address the security challenges in the country particularly those that have arisen in the last few months.
