BRAZIL captain, Neymar has expressed his joy of not having to face Nigeria, nor any African team during the group stage of the 2018 FIFA World Cup in Russia.
While giving his take on the draw, which saw Brazil grouped alongside Serbia, Costa Rica and Switzerland in group E, the PSG forward sad it was a huge relief that the Brazilians would not have to deal with the fast pace and strong physical play of the Nigerians, who are grouped alongside Argentina, Croatia and Iceland in group D.
Speaking to the media in France, Neymar named Nigeria as one of the teams in Africa he is happy to avoid while praising the strength of the other teams in their group.
“We have to be at our best to get a good result particularly in our first game of the tournament. The teams in our group are difficult to play against”, Neymar said.
“But I am happy that we are not in a group where we have to play against African teams like Nigeria. They run a lot and are very physical in their approach. We are no doubt still up against strong sides at the World Cup “. – Vanguard
