NFF lines up Serbia, Czech, DR Congo friendlies for Eagles

THE Nigeria Football Federation on Wednesday announced three more  international friendly  matches for the Super Eagles ahead of the Russia 2018 World Cup.

Nigeria will play Serbia, Czech Republic and DR Congo before  hitting  the Eurasian country to make their sixth appearance at the world ‘s football showpiece.

The NFF had earlier confirmed  the three-time African champions would play Poland in Warsaw on  March 23 and England on June 2.

But the federation’s president   Amaju Pinnick  said in Lagos the Eagles  would take  on Serbia  in London on March 27.

He said the team, who have reached the second round of the World Cup thrice (1994, 1998, 2014),  would receive  DR Congo in Abuja or Uyo   on May 28  before travelling to Austria, where they begin their second phase camping,  to engage Czech Republic  on June 6.

Pinnick said the Eagles would face a South American team in a friendly affair before the World Cup.

Nigeria are Group D alongside Croatia, Iceland and  South American powerhouse Argentina.

The Eagles open their   Russia 2018 World Cup campaign  against Croatia   at the Kaliningrad Stadium in Kaliningrad on June 16.   –  Punch
