SUNDAY Oliseh, former Nigerian captain, was formally unveiled as the Super Eagles head coach by the Nigeria Football Federation, NFF, in a presentation ceremony in Abuja on Wednesday, July 15.

Following the unveiling ceremony, Oliseh, 40, was expected to start work immediately. By his appointment, replaces Stephen Keshi, former Super Eagles teammate whose contract was terminated earlier in the month.

Amaju Pinnick, NFF president, at the unveiling ceremony likened Oliseh to Pep Guardiola, coach of Bayern Munich football club in Germany, and saying he believed the new Nigerian new coach would succeed.

Pinnick promised that Oliseh would get all the necessary support to help him to succeed as Super Eagles head coach.

“I can tell you that we have just signed our own Pep Guardiola. He is Africa’s Pep Guardiola, and I have every belief that he will succeed. On our own part we will do everything humanly possible to make sure that Oliseh succeeds by giving him 100 per cent support,” the NFF boss said during the official presentation.

The new Nigeria manager will be assisted by Jean-Francois Losciuto, Salisu Yusuf and Alloy Agu, who will be the goalkeeping coach.

After days of negotiations which took the leadership of the NFF to Belgium where Oliseh resides, the new coach arrived in Nigeria on Tuesday, July 14, to finalise the deal.

Oliseh’s first assignment will be the 2017 Africa Cup of Nations qualifying match against Tanzania in Da res Salaam.
