THE League of Freedomites, a Non-Governmental Organisation (NGO), on Sunday donated N200,000 to Destined Orphanage Home in Kado, Abuja.
The News Agency of Nigeria(NAN), reports that the NGO also donated assorted food items and medical equipment worth N800,000, to the Orphanage.
Mr Felix Adedokun, Grand Patron/President of the God’s Kingdom Society (GKS), who manages the NGO, told NAN that visiting orphanages is one of the rituals GKS carries out every year.
“The goal is to assist and bring succour to the less privileged in the society.
“The Church held its 36th Annual National Assembly (ANA), in the Federal Capital on Saturday and used the opportunity to visit the orphanage.
“Items offered to the Orphanage include rice, beans, tubers of yams and medical equipments,” he revealed.
He recalled that GKS had, during its 35th ANA in Sapele, Delta, equally visited Orphanages and made similar donations.
According to him, GKS, since its inception in 1934, has given scholarships to more than 10 million students in both tertiary and secondary schools.
“The Church will always carry out this humanitarian activity; it is one of the ways it can help the needy and less privileged in the society,” he said.
On the current economic situation, Adedokun advised people to be hopeful and move closer to God.
“He is the only one we can rely on,” he said.
He enjoined Nigerians to be of good behaviour in order to attract God’s favour.
“Without good character, blessings of God will elude us,” he said.
The President expressed satisfaction with the attendance at the Church’s 2024 36th Annual Assembly, and disclosed that the 2025 assembly would take place in Port Harcourt, the capital of Rivers. (NAN)
