A Non-Governmental Organisation (NGO), Mission for Better life in Slums Initiative (MBS) on Tuesday donated books amongst other essential relief items to over 50 kids in the slum of Ilaje-Bariga.

The NGO’s Convener, Mr Israel Arogbonlo, told newsmen in Lagos that MBS Initiative equally paid one term’s school fees for two indigent pupils.

He said that the two pupils are Ali Damilare Peter and Uzoamaka Jeff.

Arogbonlo said that the donations and payment of school fees are part of the initiative’s cardinal points.

He said that the initiative was also to ensure that less-privileged kids secured a future in education.

The NGO convener explained that the visit to the community marked the MBS 2024 end-of-the-year outreach aimed at identifying with underserved communities.

According to him, the purpose of the visit is to identify with the kids and also give them a glimpse of hope of a secured future.

“We decided to pay their school fees and also support them with writing materials considering the hardship the children go through to get finance for these materials.

“For now, we are paying school fees for two pupils as advocates, because I believe so strongly in securing the future of the kids educationally.

“Paying the school fees of these children is a way of giving the students the opportunity to be empowered positively,” he said.

Arogbonlo noted that children who are occupied and had access to education would not be involved in crime.

He added that the initiative was a way of creating a secure environment for the community.

The NGO boss urged the students to continue to read and work hard to ensure they come out successful academically and in life.

The News Agency of Nigeria reports that the beneficiaries and their families were overwhelmed with gratitude, and repeatedly prayed that the Lord would always meet the NGO’s needs. (NAN)
