NGO plants 250 tree seedlings at military facility in Yobe

SIGHT of Hope and Peace Advancement Initiative, an NGO, has launched tree planting campaign for over 250 seedlings at a military health facility in Yobe.

Mrs Tarhyel Maiva, The Executive Director of the NGO, said the organisation, which comprised people from different specialists, was willing to help humanity.

“The organisation is into various activities including elimination of Gender Based Violence, encouraging Child Protection and climate change issues, among others.

She said the tree planting project, titled “BAYS Project”, was driven from three mostly affected states of Borno, Adamawa and Yobe.

“The project is driven from the three states which are mostly affected by climate change, especially the sandstorm across the northeast.

“We want to start this project in this state with this hospital due to its strategic position in the state,” she explained.

Maj.-Gen. Koko Isoni, the Commander, Sector 2 Joint Task Force North East, Operation Hadin Kai, commended the initiative of the organisation.

Isoni, represented by Brig.-Gen. Umar Mu’azu, advised the state government to continue its efforts of mitigating environmental challenges associated with climate Change. NAN
