Business
AN NGO, Society for the Transfer of Appropriate Sustainable Technology and Expertise (TASTE), has provided access to safe drinking water, sanitation and hygiene facilities to one million Nigerians in the last 25 years.
Mr Ben Udejiofor, its Chief Executive Officer (CEO), stated this at an event to commemorate the outfit’s 25th anniversary.
According to him, the beneficiaries of the various interventions in the last 25 years were largely rural dwellers.
He explained that the water was provided through solar-powered boreholes, adding that it had built modern latrines to promote sanitation and hygiene in schools and communities.
”TASTE has supported disadvantaged communities across Nigeria to access safe drinking water whilst sharing the Christian gospel and demonstrating the love of God.
“The support comprises drilling of boreholes, construction of hygienic latrines and undertaking community development projects toward building cohesion and resilience.
Udejiofor thanked the British High Commission, Irish and Australian Embassies, the European Union, United States Agency for International Development (USAID) and World server, for their support, particularly in the funding of some projects.
He also thanked Wateraid Nigeria, Overseas Fellowship of Nigerian Christians (OFNC) Harry Inman Charitable Trust, X-Cel Superturn, Sheffield, Tearfund, Rotary club Fleetwood, among others international organisations for their support.(NAN)
