A Non-Governmental Organisation, Nexus Fare, has urged people of Fantsuam Chiefdom in Southern Kaduna to embrace dialogue in resolving any conflict.

Felicia Alhassan, Team Lead of Nexus Fare, made the call on during separate meetings with Fulani and Fantsuam youths in Kafanchan to resolve disputes between them.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that relations between the communities became strained following an attack on Zikpak district of the chiefdom in July 2020.

Alhassan explained that dialogue was necessary to resolve any dispute, adding that communities must also learn to forgive and create the path for harmonious coexistence and prosperity.

According to her, living in peace will also help in resolving other communal challenges within the chiefdom.

During the meeting, youths from both communities highlighted issues triggering misunderstanding in the community.

The issues include destruction of farms, encroachment into cattle routes and general mutual suspicion, among others.

They however agreed to commit to the path of dialogue and forgiveness.

They also agreed to the reopening of blocked cattle routes, management of cattle encroachment into farms, and holding a joint dialogue session by the end of the month.

NAN reports that Nexus Fare is undertaking an intervention in Fantsuam chiefdom, engaging key actors in the peace building process to bridge existing gaps and achieve sustainable peace.

The intervention by Nexus Fare is in collaboration with Ladies Empowerment Goals and Support Initiative, and Peace Direct.(NAN)
