THE Commissioner of Police, Niger State Command, Ogundele Ayodeji, has paid a visit to the district head of Lambata, Gurara Local Government Area (LGA) and the family of the late village head of Lambata, Mohammed Abdulsafur.
The visit comes barely 48 hours after Abdulsafur was attacked by irate youths in his residence on Saturday and later confirmed dead at Federal Medical Centre (FMC) Gawu-Babangida.
According to a statement by the Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), DSP Wasiu Abiodun, the police commissioner condoled with the district head and family of the deceased.
Ayodeji was said to have assured the family that the perpetrators of the “dastardly act” will be apprehended and shall be made to face the consequences of their actions.
“He admonishes the family not to take laws into their hands and allow the criminal justice system to take its course in ensuring that Justice prevails,” the statement reads.
Similarly, the CP reportedly visited the scene of the unfortunate incident of a bandit attack at Kafin-Koro, Paikoro LGA where Rev. Fr. Isaac Achi was burnt to death.
The assailants set the residence ablaze with the fire suffocating the cleric to death before the body got burnt, Ayodeji said in the statement.
“He [Ayodeji] further noted that Police tactical teams engaged the hoodlums in a gun duel and as a result, the bandits hurriedly escaped from the scene.
“Rev. Collins, a neighbour to Rev. Isaac, was shot on the shoulder by the hoodlums as he was trying to escape. He was later rescued by the Police to the hospital for treatment,” the command said.
It added that the CP paid a condolence visit to the district head of Kafin-Koro as well as some members of the deceased’s church, assuring them that the police command will not rest on its oars, until the perpetrators are brought to book.
