Nigeria envoy presents letter of credence to Ethiopia, AU

AMB. Victor Adeleke, Nigeria Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary to Ethiopia has officially presented his Letters of Credence to Madam Sahel-Work Zewde, President of the Federal Democratic Republic of Ethiopia.

A statement from the Nigerian Mission in Ethiopia said that Adeleke’s presentation of his letter marked the assumption of diplomatic operations in that country.

Adeleke at the event pledged to strengthen bilateral relations between the two countries on the political front, economic cooperation, industrialization and consular relations.

Other discussion at the event centered on reviving the Group 4, comprising Ethiopia, Algeria, South Africa and Nigeria, an informal group made up of highest financial contributors to the AU, for their benefits on the multilateral stage.

Adeleke, is also with concurrent accreditation to Djibouti and Permanent Representative to the African Union and the UN Economic Commission for Africa.

The Nigerian Principal Representative also presented his letter of Commission to the African Union Chairperson, Mr Moussa Faki Mahamat at the AU Headquarters in Ethiopia.

High points of discussion were on African Peace Fund, stabilization strategy for the Lake Chad Basin, AU Institutional Reforms and assessed contribution among others.

He assured the Chairperson of the African Union of his unflinching support to all AU programme initiatives.

Adeleke, a career Diplomat, was former Deputy Chief of Protocol at the Federal Ministry of Foreign Affairs and had also served in various capacities in Nigerian Missions in the United Kingdom and Republic of Ireland. (NAN)
