A statement on behalf of the NOC by Tony Nezianya, public relations officer, PRO, noted the impressive performance of the team in the recent competition, adding that
“making it to the last 16 is no small achievement, and you should be immensely proud of yourselves.”
The statement said that “Although the match against England didn’t end as desired, the fact that you pushed them to penalty kicks after full and extra time without conceding a goal speaks volumes about your talent and determination.”
It added that the team “showcased your skills and proved that you are a force to be reckoned with on the international stage”, advising them to “Please remember that reaching this stage is a remarkable accomplishment, and it bodes well for your future endeavours.”
The NOC said: “Your hard work, dedication, and teamwork have undoubtedly brought you this far, and there is no doubt that you will continue to succeed in the future.
Keep your heads held high, for the Falcons have secured pride of place in the hearts of many”, noting that their journey may have ended for now, but your achievements will serve as an inspiration for the upcoming years.
It lauded their fantastic performance, wishing them the best of luck in their future endeavours on the field, as Nigerians are all eagerly awaiting their next triumphs.
