Politics
THE Federal Government has expressed its readiness to partner with Italian government on science and technology through transformative power of space technology and development to advance the socio-economic development in the country.
Chief Uche Nnaji, Minister of Innovation, Science and Technology, said this when Italian Ambassador to Nigeria, Dr Stefano De Leo, visited him in Abuja on Friday.
Nnaji said that the Ministry of Innovation, Science and Technology had taken advantage of space technology to enhance environmental protection and improved efficiency in agriculture.
According to him, this will prevent flood and herder-farmer clashes.
The minister said the collaboration was apt as it would avert flood caused by climate change.
Nnaji said flooding in some Northern states was one among other critical challenges facing the country.
According to him, assessment from the space agency revealed that Lagdo Dam in Cameroon had overflown.
Earlier, De Leo, said that the visit was to strengthen partnership with Nigeria on science and technology.
He said that Nigeria should take its leadership position in Africa to harness both human and natural resources for technological advancement.(NAN)
