PERSONNEL of the 7 Division Nigerian Army on Saturday conducted waste clearance exercise to sanitise Cashew Plantation area of Maiduguri metropolis.

The Division’s General Officer Commanding (GOC), Maj.-Gen. Shauib Waidi said the exercise was part of corporate social responsibility to render selfless service to its host community.

According to him, the exercise is also designed to build upon the existing mutual and cordial relationship between the Nigerian Army and its host communities as well as complement non kinetic approach in the counter insurgency operation.

Represented by Lt.-Col. Nehemiah Yakubu, Commander 73 Battallion, Waidi said sanitation materials such as wheel barrows, hand sanitiser,  hand gloves, waste bins, rigs and shovels had been donated to the community to encourage them to keep a clean environment.

“The exercise is part of the civil-military cooperation activities designed by the Battalion in support of its host community to win their continuous cooperation.

He said members of the community had been sensitised to support the troops in the fight against insurgency by providing credible information on acts capable of disrupting the relative peace in the state. (NAN)
