Nigerian Army uses Old Oba Airport for Military Exercises

THE Anambra State government is informing the public that the Nigerian military will use the old Oba airport as a base for its military exercises starting from September 12.

A letter signed by Prof Solo Osita Chukwulobelu, secretary to the State government said: “the Nigerian security forces will use the old airport site as base for joint security exercises…

“The purpose of the exercise is to encourage cordial relationship between the civilians and the security operatives as well as deter criminals and discourage criminality in the state.”

The letter dated September 11, 2017, with reference GH/SSG/SECO/2017/2, was addressed to the traditional ruler of Oba community and the president general of Oba Town Union in Idemili South local government.

It was also copied to chairman of the local government, chieftaincy and community affairs, special adviser to the government on Town Unions and chieftaincy Matters, chairman of Anambra Traditional Rulers Council, president general, ASATU.
