A Nigerian woman, Fidelia Salami, is set to break Guinness World Record for 300 hours longest marathon reading aloud for students in Asaba, Delta State. She will be reading over 100 books on tourism, culture and hospitality management.

Speaking with Realnews, she said Guinness World Record, GWR, has acknowledged and accepted her attempt. She is attempting the record breaking with the goal of promoting reading culture of students and celebrating their intellectual reading.

She will be raising awareness to help students through the process. She is changing the conversation and letting students understand the importance of passionate reading skills.

According to her, the essence is for students to enjoy reading for contents and rekindle their inspiration for active reading, and when they do, this will trigger their mind on the need to read for information and mental stimulation.

She added that it is imperative to change the narrative about reading and active reading for societal development.

She also emphasised the significance of this milestone and the importance of reigniting the interest in reading across Nigeria and beyond, and hopes the historical adventure will garner huge public interest in tourism, culture, hospitality management and education, which is the bedrock of any society and world’s most potent currency.

However, Fidelia Salami is seeking support and making a passionate appeal to meaningful individuals, government, corporate organizations, tourism, culture, hospitality and education enthusiasts to support this historic adventure and make it a reality.
