Nigeria’s FM congratulates Liberia on successful conduct of presidential election

CHAIRMAN of the 51st Ordinary Session of the Mediation and Security Council (MSC), Amb Yusuf Tuggar has congratulated Liberia for the successful conduct of its presidential and legislative elections.

Tuggar who is also Nigeria’s Foreign Affairs Minister congratulated Liberia in a remark at the Ministerial Level of the MSC meeting in Abuja on Wednesday.

According to him, the successful conduct of the elections is an indication that progress is being made in the advancement of democracy in the West African sub-region.

The minister said the peaceful and transparent electoral process testified to Liberia’s unwavering commitment to democratic principles, and it exemplified the democratic ideals collectively cherished in the sub-region.

He praised the governments of Sierra Leone and Guinea Bissau for their resoluteness in thwarting the recent attempts to destabilise constitutional harmony in their domains.

He observed that said proactive efforts would not only safeguard the democratic aspirations of the people but could reinforce “our collective commitment to upholding constitutional order and ensuring the stability of our region.

“Allow me to acknowledge the tireless efforts of the leadership of the ECOWAS Commission, all Heads of ECOWAS institutions, and the dedicated staff who continue to play pivotal roles in advancing the interests of our community and fostering peace and security throughout the sub-region.

“Their unwavering commitment and expertise are invaluable as we navigate the complexities of the current landscape.’’ (NAN)
