A London court hearing a case on money laundering against Diezani Alison-Madueke, former petroleum minister in Nigeria under President Goodluck Jonathan docks and releases her on bail on Friday
DIEZANI Alison-Madueke, Nigeria’s first female petroleum minister, has been charged to court in London, England, following her arrest earlier on Friday, October 2. Alison-Madueke is being prosecuted for money laundering, according to the London Police.
She was granted bail by a magistrate court in London after she had been detained for several hours.
Alison-Madueke was arrested in London, along with four other persons in relation to corruption allegations being investigated by the UK National Crime Agency.
The Nigerian government has declined to comment on the arrest of Alison-Madueke, who had used court orders in Nigeria to shield herself from appearing at the National Assembly committee investigating allegations of corruption levelled against her.
