THE National Identity Management Commission (NIMC) is set to commence enrolment of Nigerian adults and children in South Africa into its database for the issuance of the National Identification Number (NIN).

The Director-General, NIMC, Mr Aliyu Aziz, said this in a statement by the Commission’s Spokesman, Mr Loveday Chika Ogbonna, on Friday in Abuja.

Aziz said that the launch of the diaspora enrolment in South Africa was in collaboration with Thebez Global Resources Limited (TGR) in a bid to ensure that Nigerians living outside the country were not disenfranchised.

According to him, six Nigerian companies have been licensed to work with their respective partners across all countries such as Africa, Asia, Europe and America.

He listed the licensed Nigerian companies to include; Biosec Solutions Limited, CHAMS Consortium Limited, Defcon Systems Limited, National eAuthentication Limited, Thebez Global Resources and Venn Technology Limited.

Aziz said that the six companies would carry out the enrolment of Nigerian adults and children in the diaspora into the National Identity Database (NIDB).

“They will be issued with the National Identification Number upon enrolment and subsequently the General Multipurpose Card (GMPC)’’.

He, however, said that requisite standard guidelines and regulations have been put in place to ensure the effective implementation of the National Identity Management Systems (NIMS).

He added that NIMC would ensure the provision of the right platform for providing digital identity for Nigerians and legal residents and Nigerians in diaspora.

He said that the South Africa NIN enrolment centre located at 205 Rivonia road; Morningside, Sandton, Johannesburg, 2057 will open for enrolment from Wednesday, March 6

He also added that appointments could be made through the TGR website, “http://nin.thebezglobalresource.com/”nin.thebezglobalresource.com from Monday, March 4

The director said: “it is expected that other countries will come on board on the platform of Thebez Global Resources Limited after the South Africa pilot exercise.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that Thebez Global Resources Limited is a Nigerian owned firm with global presence and years of experience in identity management solutions.

The company is in the business of providing similar services by themselves and in partnership with other similar companies in Diaspora jurisdictions. (NAN)
