NiMet predicts 3-day dust haze from Thursday

THE Nigerian Meteorological Agency (NiMet) has predicted dust haze from Thursday to Saturday across the country.

NiMet’s weather outlook released on Wednesday in Abuja forecast thick dust haze over the northern region on Thursday throughout the forecast period.

According to NiMet, moderate dust haze with visibility range of 2km to 5km and localized visibility of less than or equal to 1,000m is expected over the North Central region throughout the forecast period.

It envisaged moderate dust haze over the Inland states of the South throughout the forecast period.

The agency anticipated slight dust haze over the coastal states with prospects of morning thunderstorms over parts of Lagos and Delta state.

“For Friday, thick dust haze is expected over the North and the North Central region throughout the forecast period.

“Moderate dust haze is expected over the Inland states of the South throughout the forecast period.

“Slight dust haze is anticipated over the coastal states throughout the forecast period,” it said.

NiMet predicted thick dust haze over the North and the North Central region throughout the forecast period on Saturday.

It envisaged moderate dust haze with visibility range of 2km to 5km and localized visibility of less than or equal to 1,000m over Inland states of South and coastal belt throughout the forecast period.

“Dust particles are in suspension, public should take necessary precautions. People with Asthma and other respiratory issues should be cautious of the present weather situations.

“Airline operators are advised to get updated with weather report from NiMet for effective planning in their operations,” it said. (NAN)
