
NiMet predicts 3-day sunny, hazy weather conditions

THE Nigerian Meteorological Agency (NiMet) has predicted sunshine and haziness from Wednesday to Friday across the nation.
NiMet’s weather outlook released on Tuesday in Abuja forecast sunny and hazy skies on Wednesday over the North and North Central states throughout the forecast period.
According to NiMet, in the South, cloudy skies with spells of sunshine are expected over the inland and coastal region in the morning.
It envisaged thunderstorms over parts of Ondo, Ogun, Osun, Oyo, Lagos, Cross River, Akwa Ibom, Bayelsa, Edo and Delta States later in the day.
“For Thursday, sunny skies in a hazy atmosphere is anticipated over both the northern and North central regions of the country throughout the forecast period.
“In the southern parts of the country, cloudy skies with spells of sunshine are expected for both the inland and coastal regions.
” There are prospects of thunderstorms over parts of Ondo, Oyo, Ekiti, Ogun, Edo, Lagos, Cross River, Akwa Ibom, Rivers and Bayelsa States later in the day,” it said.
According to NiMeT, sunny skies in a hazy atmosphere is expected over both the northern and North Central regions of the country on Friday throughout the forecast period.
It anticipated cloudy skies with spells of sunshine over the Inland and Coastal regions of the southern part of the country in the morning.
NiMet predicted thunderstorms over parts of Lagos, Edo, Bayelsa and Cross River states later in the day.
The agency urged the public to take necessary precautions as dust particles are in suspension.
It further urged the people with asthmatic health conditions and other respiratory issues to be cautious of the present weather condition.
“Strong winds may precede the rains in areas where thunderstorms are likely to occur, so the public should take adequate precaution.
“Adhere to safety advisories issued by relevant authorities; airline operators are advised to get airport-specific weather reports (flight documentation) from NiMet for effective planning in their operations.
