MEMBER representing Keana Constituency at the Nasarawa State House of Assembly, Muhammad Omadefu, has donated a scanner and printer to the National Identity Management Commission (NIMC) in the state to ensure that his constituents get registered.
He presented the gadgets for onward delivery to the NIMC office in Keana Local Government Area on Monday in Lafia.
Omadefu, who is the Chairman of, House Committee on Information, said the gesture was to complement the lack of equipment at the office.
According to him, the importance of National Identity Number (NIN) to human and societal development could not be overemphasised, hence, the need for the support.
“I identified lack of equipment at the Keana office as hamparing the commencement of National Identity card registration exercise in Keana LGA of the state.
“I was really worried when I found out that the NIN registration is yet to commence in my constituency and further investigation revealed that the working tools were stolen.
“So, as a representative of my people, I decided to procure these gadgets and donated to your office to enable the commission start the registration so that my constituents cannot be left out of this all important exercise.
“I am always ready to protect and represent the best interest of the state and the people of Keana constituency who gave me the mandate to represent them at the Assembly.
“I am calling on you, Sir, to as a matter of urgency take these gadgets to Keana LGA office and please let your staff try as much as possible to start the enrolment because we are behind schedule.
“And I cannot afford to allow my people to be risking their lives traveling from Keana down to Lafia to get registered; that is why I donated this scanner and printer to facilitate the take off of the NIN registration in Keana.”
He pledged his continued support to the commission to succeed in the task ahead.
The lawamaker reassured his continued determination to key into good policies and programmes that would have direct bearing on the lives of the people.
Responding, the state Coordinator of NIMC, Mr Abubakar Idris, appreciated the lawmaker for the donation.
He said that the donation would go a long way in assisting the commission to start the registration in Keana area immediately.
The coordinator promised to reciprocate the gesture by ensuring the success of the exercise in the area.
