NIPCO wins Twin Recognitions at Guardian Maiden Oil and Gas Awards

THE peerless housekeeping and safety compliant of NIPCO PLC has again earned the company the best Oil and Gas Health and Safety Company of the Year at the maiden edition of the Guardian Oil and Gas Roundtable and awards in Lagos.

NIPCO carted two awards namely – Oil and Gas Health and Safety Company of the year [Downstream] and Gas Local Content Compliant Company of the Year [Downstream] out of the eight categories of awards at the prestigious event attended by eminent personalities within and outside the hydrocarbon industry.

On hand to receive the awards presented by Abraham Ogbodo, editor, Guardian Newspaper, on behalf of the managing director, Sanjay Teotia, were Lawal Taofeek,  chief corporate affairs manager, and Vitalis Ofoegbu, Nipco Safety chief.

Prof Wale Omole, chairman, editorial board, Guardian Newspaper, who represented Maiden Alex Ibru, publisher, said the event was designed to bring critical stakeholders in the sector to scale up discussions and set agenda that can catalyse further growth and development of the industry in Nigeria.

According to him, the programme also seeks to recognize, celebrate and reward distinguished players in the Oil & Gas industry who have and still contributing to the growth of the industry .

He described all the awardees as unique organizations and individuals who have spurred growth and created new economic opportunities for citizens and communities as well as inspiring new generation of Oil & Gas in Africa’s future .

NIPCO was specifically recognized for its pacesetting role in HSE compliance in the industry, a feat that has also earned the company NPA Safety awards consistently in the past six years.

The company’s role in the downstream sector creating lots of opportunities for locals in compliance with the Local Content Development through the effective implementation of the Nigerian Content Act was also recognized.

In the same feat, NIPCO’s in attracting investment in the Nigeria Oil and Gas industry was also recognized especially with the recent acquisition of 60 percent ExxonMobil equity in Mobil Oil Nigeria, MON, PLC.

NIPCO MD dedicated the awards to the workforce whose unwavering commitment to the vision of the company were part of the motivating factors for the successes and recognitions being accorded to the company in quick succession.

He said it is a thing of joy winning two awards in an event put together by a reputable news medium like Guardian whose motto is “Conscience, Nurtured by Truth “ with integrity as its primary concern.
