NIS Rivers State produced 38,613 passports in 6 months - Official

THE passport office of the Nigeria Immigration Service in Rivers State is at its optimum with 38,613 passports produced, the Comptroller of Immigration Service, Rivers State Command, James Sunday, has said.
The statement issued by the Service has urged online application and online payment to reduce the overcrowding and time wasting by applicants and that the system has also improved on service delivery to the public through the Servicom help desk.
It noted that as a take away from the 60th Anniversary Celebration of the service, the command has produced reasonable number of passports and that the passport office has produced between February and July, 38,613 booklets.
According to the statement, many applicants are yet to collect their produced passports and the service is using this opportunity to call on anyone, who was captured a month or two ago and others with very cogent reason and were captured for health and medically related issues or other urgent cases that was proven and confirmed have been produced and awaiting collection.
It added that the Comptroller James Sunday, PCC, after his visit to the passport office advised the Passport Control Officer Audi Maisudan, Deputy Comptroller, to step up action in the area of feedback and reaching out to applicants, whose passports are ready to come and collect them and those with issues to be notified to enable them resolve their issues to clear pending cases and get the passports produced.
“As a Command, we are enjoining applicants captured a month or two ago and those with genuine reasons bothering on life threatening medication abroad, Business, study and crucial issues for intervention to always start the process early or go for the 10-year, 64-page to save time and avoid the urgent rush syndrome.
“Students travelling abroad for studies and families relocating are advised to pick up the 10-year, 64-page enhanced e-passport for their utmost comfort and ease of stay abroad,” it said, adding that close to 500 passports are awaiting collection and that the public are notified by this statement to keep to their appointment dates for capturing and collection.
