THE National Information Technology Development Agency (NITDA) on Tuesday tasked Information Communication Technology (ICT) start-ups on the need to have an action plan before delving into the technology market space.
Dr Amina Sambo-Magaji, the National Coordinator, Office for ICT Innovation and Entrepreneurship (OIIE), subsidiary of NITDA, said this at the ongoing Start-Up Clinic organised for ICT start-up companies in Uyo, Abuja, Kano and Enugu in Abuja.
Start-Up Clinic is a smart gathering of selected number of start-ups, mentors, successful entrepreneurs, investors, industry specialists, business consultants and hub operators in an interactive, knowledge exchange platform.
The clinic is aimed at giving maximum attention to start-up founders with the goal of supporting them to identify and address challenges of their business.
Sambo-Magaji said “it is important that start-ups should leave the clinic with a definite action plan that can advance business ideas to the next level.”
The national coordinator said that having an action plan would encourage investors who wished to invest in their businesses and ensure that any
assistance they got would not waste.
She noted that NITDA was committed to developing the country through ICT entrepreneurship and it was important that start-ups prepared themselves with every skill needed to grow their businesses.
She reiterated that there were huge market opportunities in ICT and urged start-ups to leverage on them.
She also urged start-ups to make use of every knowledge and information they could get from the clinic and apply same to their businesses.
According to her, participants will have expert feedback and advice on validating their idea, enhance their business skills and have prescriptions on key areas to focus their enterprise.
Some of the benefits the start-ups stand to gain include learning how to build a business, ways to pitch business ideas to investors, understanding the legal side of a start-up business, among others. The start-up clinic is a week-long programme.(NAN)
