NLS class 2003 celebrates 21st anniversary of call to Nigerian Bar

THE Nigerian Law School Class of 2003 on August 29, celebrated its 21st call to bar anniversary and reunion at the International Conference Centre, Abuja.   The function also witnessed the handover of the leadership of the  class union after a very seamless e-Election which saw the emergence  of Kabir Akanbi, a man of great perspicacity and amiable member of the class  as the incoming national president of NLS  Class 2003. Akanbi takes over from Steve Ononye, SAN, former chairman of NBA, Onitsha Branch.

Delivering his inaugural speech at the reunion  at the the well attended event, held on  during the 2023 NBA Annual Genera Conference in Abuja,  Akanbi  enthusing on  his preparedness to take on the role of the president stated he and the new EXCO would be embarking on a journey guided by the principles of unity, empowerment and progress amidst the objectives of building bridges and commitment to a transformative vision, in tandem with the following definitive stratagems:

  • Strengthening the Alumni Network
  • Empowering the next Generation
  • Lifelong learning and Professional Development
  • Impactful Community Engagement
  • Enhancing Alumni Recognition
  • Encouraging Constructive Engagement
  • Transparent Governance and Accountability

Realnews reports that the NLS Class 2003 has produced a significant number of notable men and women of fine minds and intellect, serving Nigeria in different capacities in varying fields and walks of life. Some at the bench, in public service, some in politics at National and State Houses of Assembly and in corporate practice and litigation.

At the event, the  esteemed director general of Law School, Professor Isa Hayatu Chiroma, SAN, enjoined members of the NLS Class 2003 to make out to visit the Law School, to make an impact on the formation of young lawyers and the development Law School, take on mentoring and insightful programmes and development of the Law in general. He urged them to always show good example and uphold good moral probity at all times.
