NNL: City FC beat Green Berets FC 1-0

CITY Football Club of Abuja on Sunday defeated visiting Green Berets FC of Zaria 1-0 in a 2022/2023 Nigeria National League (NNL) Northern Conference Group A2 Match Day 8 fixture.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the match played at the Area 10 pitch saw City FC controlling the game very well.

Green Berets FC on their part found it difficult to attack.

In the 30th minute, Victor Okolo’s struck to put City FC ahead, and they kept their lead till the end.

Speaking after the match, Chigozie Akabuike, the City FC goalkeeper, described the game as a highly important one.

“It was a fantastic game displayed by both sides. When we faced them in the first stanza in Zaria, they won 2-0. And coming here to Abuja we have been able to turn the tables.

”But it’s just that luck was on our side.

“Now we have been able to consolidate our position. With this win, it makes it our third win in succession and we want to extend this to our remaining matches.

“We shall keep working hard to achieve our target,” he said.

NAN reports that City FC have so far won three matches, lost three and drew one, while Green Berets FC have won one, drawn two and lost four.(NAN)
