THE Katsina State chapter of the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP) has cautioned its 88 candidates for the 2023 general elections gainst contravening campaign guidelines set by INEC.
The party’s Chairman in the state, Alhaji Sani Liti said this during a meeting with the candidates and other stakeholders on Saturday in Katsina.
He advised them to adhere to the various guidelines concerning campaigns and follow the timetable issued by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).
“Now that Nigerians have rejected the major leading political parties, our party, the NNPP, is best placed to win the 2023 general elections.
“My advice is that we should tidy up our end and be mindful of the various electoral laws, particularly those guiding campaigns and the contents of the campaigns.
“We should follow the INEC timetable for campaigns. We should also engage on issues-based campaigns.
“With the calibre of our candidates and members including new members from the APC and the PDP, we shall have a good showing in the elections,” he said.
Also speaking, the party’s governorship candidate, Nura Khalil appealed to the party’s candidates and stakeholders not to relent in the effort to ensure total victory of the party in the state.
He added that the meeting was to appraise reports from the 34 Local Government Areas compiled by those he described as the party’s foot soldiers.
“They are naturally foot soldiers. We assigned some responsibilities to them regarding mobilisation and contact of major stakeholders all over the state.
“We are going to receive their reports today, and then we discuss progress, and if there is any identified problem we find the possible ways of resolving them.”
The party’s deputy governorship candidate, Dr Muttaqha Rabe-Darma said the NNPP was set to correct the anomalies in the state, if elected into office in 2023.
“We should, however, be mindful of the various electoral laws and should not run afoul of them,” he advised. (NAN)
